1.08 Angle Addition Postulate and Angle Bisectors

Adjacent acute angles R S U and U S T share side, ray S U.  The sum of these angles is acute angle R S T.

  1. Find mangleRSU if
    m
    angleUST=50
    and
    m
    angleRST=72.

  2. Find mangleRSU if
    m
    angleRST=84,
    mangleRSU=4x
    and
    m
    angleUST=3x.

  3. Find mangleRSU if
    m
    angleRST=56,
    mangleRSU=4x-3
    and
    m
    angleUST=5x+5

Adjacent acute angles D O G, G O E and E O T.  Angles D O G and G O E share side, ray O G.  Angles G O E and E O T share side, ray O E.  The sum of these three angles is obtuse angle D O T.

  1. Solve for x.
    mangleDOG=5x-3,
    mangleGOE=3x+4
    and
    m
    angleDOE=9x-6

  2. Given angleDOG=angleTOE.
    Solve for x if
    m
    angleDOG=3x+7
    and
    mangleTOE=5x-11.

Angle X Y W is adjacent to angle W Y Z.  Angle X Y W is obtuse, while angle W Y Z is acute.  These angles are supplementary.  They share a side, ray Y W.

  1. mangleXYW=5x-2
    and
    mangleWYZ=2x.
    Find mangleXYW

  2. mangleXYW=6x+6
    and
    m
    angleWYZ=4x+4.
    Find mangleXYW.

Acute adjacent angles A B D and D B C share side, ray B D.  Together these angles form acute angle A B C.

  1. mangleABD=7x+4
    and
    angleDBC=8x- 2
    Find mangleABD.

  2. mangleABD=6x-3,
    m
    angleDBC=5x+4
    and
    mangleABC=10x+8.
    Find x.
  3. Use the value of x from question 9 to find mangleABD.
